Texas rapper Tay-K was sentenced to 55 years in prison on a murder charge for a 2016 robbery that left one man dead, and another injured according to the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney’s Office.

The Tarrant County jury also sentenced Tay-K, AKA Taymor McIntyre, to 30 years in prison on one count of aggravated robbery and 13 years for each of the remaining two counts of aggravated robbery.

The sentences will run concurrently, said one of the court clerks.

Tay-K was one of seven defendants charged. The other six have either been found guilty or reached plea deals.

According to witness testimony, Tay-K was part of a plan to steal drugs and money from the victim’s home in the Dallas-Fort Worth area

The victim, Ethan Walker, didn’t have the drugs or money the robbers were after, the witnesses said. Walker’s girlfriend testified that Walker was shot while his hands were in the air.

Tay-K’s attorneys argued that he wasn’t the person who fired the gun and shouldn’t have been found guilty. But prosecutors said Tay-K knew that the plan was to rob Walker from the jump.

SMH. Tay-K gained notoriety in 2017 by cutting off his ankle bracelet and fleeing house arrest. He released a song called “The Race,” which now has more than 174 million views on YouTube. The video shows Tay-K posing next to a wanted poster of himself and doing the most.

Tay-K was captured in New Jersey after three months on the run.

A Texas jury found Tay-K guilty of murder and three counts of aggravated robbery Friday (July 19). According to The Star-Telegram, jurors deliberated for around four hours before returning a verdict.

His lawyers argued that the gun that killed Walker was fired by his accomplice, Latharian Merritt.(Does this constitute as snitching? Even if your lawyer speaks?) But prosecutors argued against the notion that Tay-K had no involvement in the fatal robbery as he was armed at the time.

He also stands accused of robbing and killing a 23-year-old man at a Chick-fil-A, as well attacking and robbing a 65-year-old man while on the run from authorities in 2017.
